Heat Shrinkable Sleeve

Heat Shrink Sleeves (HSS) are a group of protective coatings designed to prevent corrosion at weld joints in buried and offshore pipelines. These products consist of a cross-linked polyethylene backing layer and a hot-melt adhesive layer, used together with a two-component, solvent-free epoxy primer. When heat is applied, the adhesive layer melts, causing the sleeve to shrink and tightly adhere to the pipe surface, forming a seamless, corrosion-resistant coating with high mechanical and chemical durability and long service life.

The protective system includes the heat shrink sleeve, the two-component solvent-free epoxy primer (Base and Cure), and a collar, all applied according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Surface preparation and cleaning of the pipe for the heat shrink sleeve should meet SA 2½ standards, and the surface must be pre-heated as per the manufacturer’s guidelines.

For repairs of damaged sections of the main polyethylene coating on oil and gas pipelines, repair materials such as Repair Patches, Melt Sticks, and Mastic Filler are used.
